Link copying guide

How to Copy a Pinterest Link on Any Device

Every Pinterest download starts with one thing: the link to an individual Pin. Here is exactly where the Copy link button lives on iPhone, Android, and desktop — and how to recognize a link that will actually work.

No app · No Pinterest login · Public Pins only

Quick answer

Open the Pin itself, tap the Share arrow, and choose Copy link. On a computer, copy the address straight from the browser's address bar instead. Both full pinterest.com/pin/… URLs and short pin.it links work with PinClip.

Before you start

Three checks prevent most wrong-link, missing-file, and permission problems.

Copy a Pin, not a page

A board, profile, search result, or the home feed does not identify one video. Always open the individual Pin before copying — the URL must belong to that Pin.

Any copy method works

The share sheet's Copy link button, the browser address bar, and right-click → Copy link on a Pin thumbnail all produce a usable URL. Use whichever is fastest on your device.

You don't need an account for this

Copying a link and pasting it into PinClip never requires a Pinterest login. If a tool asks for your password just to read a public link, walk away.

Step-by-step

How to Copy a Pinterest Link on Any Device

  1. 1

    Open the individual Pin first

Tap or click the video so it opens on its own page. A link only identifies one Pin when that Pin is open — copying from the feed can point at the wrong place.

Helpful detail: If Pinterest opens the creator's external website instead of a Pin page, go back and open the Pin itself before copying.

  2. 2

On iPhone: Share → Copy link

With the Pin open, tap the Share arrow — on some app versions it sits inside the ••• menu — then tap Copy link in the share sheet. Three taps: Share, Copy link, done.

Helpful detail: The copied value often starts with pin.it. That is Pinterest's own short link and works exactly like the full URL.

  3. 3

On Android: Share → Copy link

Open the Pin, tap the Share icon near the top of the screen or inside the three-dot menu, and choose Copy link. The URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste into Chrome.

Helpful detail: If the sheet shows 'Send' apps first, scroll it — Copy link appears in the app row or directly below it.

  4. 4

On PC or Mac: use the address bar

Open the Pin page and copy the full URL from the browser's address bar — no share sheet needed. Alternatively, click the Pin's Share button and choose Copy link.

Helpful detail: Right-clicking a Pin thumbnail in search results and choosing Copy link address also produces a valid Pin URL.

What a valid Pinterest link looks like

Before pasting, glance at what is actually on your clipboard. These three shapes all work with PinClip.

Full Pin URLs

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/ followed by a long number. Regional domains such as pinterest.es, pinterest.co.uk, or pinterest.com.mx are equally valid.

pin.it short links

https://pin.it/ plus a short code. The Pinterest share sheet generates these compact links; PinClip resolves them to the full public Pin before extracting media.

Links with tracking extras

Text like ?utm_source=… or other parameters after the URL does not break anything. PinClip normalizes the address before fetching the Pin.

pin.it short links, explained

The short link in your clipboard is not a different Pin — it is Pinterest's own URL shortener, and understanding it removes most 'is this link OK?' doubt.

What pin.it actually is

pin.it is Pinterest's official short domain. Opening a pin.it link redirects to the full pinterest.com/pin/ page, so the destination is identical to the long URL.

Why the share sheet gives you pin.it

Pinterest generates the short form because it fits messaging apps and social posts better. Nothing is lost in the short version — the Pin ID travels with it.

Which copied links will not work

Board and profile URLs (they name collections, not one Pin), copied captions with no URL at all, and ad links that leave Pinterest for an external shop cannot be turned into a video download.

Troubleshooting

Fix common download problems

Copy link is missing from the share sheet

Update the Pinterest app first. As a fallback, open the Pin in your mobile browser and copy the address bar URL — that method always exists.

Pasting shows the Pin's title, not a URL

You copied caption text instead of the link. Redo it with Share → Copy link, or copy from the address bar, and confirm the clipboard starts with http.

The link opens a different Pin than expected

A recommendation tile was probably open when you copied. Go back to your original Pin, open it fully, and copy again.

PinClip rejects the pasted link

Check that the value contains pinterest.com or pin.it. If you copied a whole chat message, paste it somewhere editable and keep only the URL.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Copy link button on Pinterest?

Inside the share sheet: open the Pin, tap the Share arrow (or the ••• menu on some versions), then choose Copy link. On desktop, the browser address bar serves the same purpose.

Are pin.it links safe to open and use?

Yes. pin.it is Pinterest's official link shortener. It redirects to the full Pin page, and PinClip resolves it the same way it resolves a long URL.

Can I copy a Pinterest link without the app?

Yes. Open pinterest.com in any mobile browser, open the Pin, and copy the address from the address bar. No app or account is required for a public Pin.

Why does my copied link start with pin.it instead of pinterest.com?

Because you used the share sheet, which generates Pinterest's short link format. Both forms point to the same Pin, and both are accepted.

How do I copy links for several Pins at once?

Copy each Pin's link individually, then paste them into PinClip one per line — the downloader accepts multiple links in a single batch, so you do not need to repeat the whole flow per video.

Ready to save the public Pin?

Use the homepage downloader for the actual link. This guide remains focused on the device steps and where the completed file goes.
