How to Download Pinterest Videos on PC or Mac

A desktop browser gives you the clearest Pinterest URL, a larger preview, and direct access to the downloaded MP4. Copy the individual video Pin address, process it on PinClip, and save the result to your normal Downloads folder.

Quick answer

Open the video Pin in your desktop browser and copy its pinterest.com/pin/ address. Paste it into PinClip, select Download, verify the preview, and click Download MP4. Chrome and Edge normally save it to your user Downloads folder; Safari uses the location configured under Safari → Settings → General.

Before you start

Three checks prevent most wrong-link, missing-file, and permission problems.

Open the individual video Pin

Do not copy a Pinterest board, profile, search, or home-feed URL. Click the video until the address identifies one /pin/ page. A public Pin can be processed without giving PinClip your Pinterest login.

Know your browser's download location

Chrome and Edge normally use the operating system's Downloads folder unless you changed it. Safari on Mac lets you choose its file download location in Settings → General.

Save only media you are allowed to use

Use downloaded files for lawful purposes and respect the creator's copyright and Pinterest's terms. PinClip does not remove attribution embedded in a source video or grant republication rights.

Step-by-step

How to Download Pinterest Videos on PC or Mac

  1. 1

    Copy the Pin page address

Open the exact video Pin on pinterest.com and copy the full address from the browser bar. You can also use the Pin's Share control and choose Copy link when Pinterest keeps extra tracking text out of the address.

Helpful detail: A clean link normally contains /pin/ followed by the Pin ID. pin.it short links are also accepted and resolved server-side.

  2. 2

    Paste the link on PinClip

Open pinclip.app in a new tab, paste the URL into the homepage input, and click Download. The page checks public Pin data rather than asking you to install a browser extension or desktop program.

Helpful detail: Keeping Pinterest and PinClip in separate tabs makes it easy to compare the result with the original Pin before saving.

  3. 3

Verify the preview and save the MP4

Wait for the result card, play a moment of the preview if needed, then choose Download MP4. Leave the tab open while a long HD file transfers and use the browser's download indicator to monitor progress.

Helpful detail: PinClip preserves the available source video rather than screen-recording the browser or adding another watermark.

  4. 4

    Locate and organize the file

Open the browser's recent downloads list or your Downloads folder. Rename or move the MP4 after it finishes; moving an active partial download can interrupt it or leave an incomplete temporary file.

Helpful detail: Chrome's download tray can show the file in its folder. Safari's Downloads button includes a magnifying-glass action to reveal a completed item in Finder.

Where the MP4 is saved on Windows and Mac

The browser—not PinClip—chooses the final folder. If no Save As dialog appeared, use these defaults and browser controls to find the completed file.

Windows with Chrome or Edge

Look under C:\Users\your-name\Downloads, or open the browser's Downloads screen and choose Show in folder. A custom browser setting may send files somewhere else.

Mac with Chrome

Chrome normally uses /Users/your-name/Downloads. Open the recent download tray or Chrome's Downloads page to reveal the file in Finder.

Mac with Safari

Use Safari's Downloads button and click the magnifying glass beside the completed file. Safari → Settings → General shows or changes the configured download location.

Why a desktop download is not the same as Save Pin

Pinterest, the browser, and PinClip each use the word “save” differently. Understanding the boundary prevents the most common wrong-file and missing-file problems.

Pinterest Save creates a bookmark

The red Save control on Pinterest adds the Pin to one of your boards. It is useful for finding the Pin again online, but it does not guarantee that an offline MP4 was written to your computer.

Right-click may capture only the poster

A Pinterest page can display a still poster over a streamed video. Right-clicking the visible frame may save an image or a webpage resource instead of the complete video. Use the verified PinClip result and Download MP4 control.

Browser settings decide whether you see Save As

Chrome and Edge can either use one default folder or ask where to save each file. Safari has its own file download location setting. PinClip cannot silently override those browser preferences.

Interrupted direct downloads can resume

PinClip's direct MP4 delivery supports browser byte ranges, so a compatible browser can resume an interrupted transfer instead of always starting from zero. Upstream availability and converted HLS downloads can still behave differently.

Troubleshooting

Fix common download problems

The browser opens a video tab instead of downloading

Return to the PinClip result and use Download MP4 rather than right-clicking the preview. If your browser is configured to open that media type, use its download control or Save As action from the opened file tab.

The file is not in Downloads

Open the browser's download history and choose Show in folder or the Finder magnifying-glass action. Then check whether the browser is configured to ask for a destination or use a custom download folder.

The file is very small or will not play

Confirm the transfer finished and that the extension is .mp4. Delete an incomplete partial file, return to the result, and retry once on a stable network. Do not rename an HTML error page to .mp4.

PinClip cannot fetch the public video

Open the Pin URL in a private browser window. A login wall, removed Pin, private content, or region restriction means the media is not publicly reachable. A temporary Pinterest rate limit usually warrants waiting before retrying, not repeated rapid submissions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download Pinterest videos on a PC without software?

Yes. PinClip works in a current desktop browser. Copy the public video Pin URL, paste it on the homepage, and download the returned MP4 without installing an extension or desktop application.

Where does Chrome save Pinterest video downloads?

Unless you changed Chrome's setting, Windows uses the user's Downloads folder and macOS uses /Users/your-name/Downloads. Chrome's recent download tray can reveal the exact folder.

Does PinClip work in Safari on Mac?

Yes. Copy the individual public Pin link, use PinClip in Safari, and locate the completed MP4 from Safari's Downloads button or its configured file download location.

Why does right-clicking Pinterest save an image instead of the video?

The visible Pinterest player may use a poster image over a streamed media source. Use the Pin URL with PinClip and its Download MP4 control rather than saving the displayed page element.

Can I choose a download folder for every video?

Yes, when your browser is configured to ask where to save each file. That preference belongs to Chrome, Edge, or Safari rather than PinClip.

Can I download an entire Pinterest board on PC or Mac?

Not with the current PinClip tool. It accepts an individual public Pin link. Board-scale downloads need separate batching, packaging, and copyright safeguards and are not currently claimed as supported.

Ready to save the public Pin?

Use the homepage downloader for the actual link. This guide remains focused on the device steps and where the completed file goes.
